August 2009

Our Annual General Meeting was held in May at Concord Hospital and whilst we only had a very small turnout we did have some great results for our Committee and the future of the support group.

I am delighted to announce that Mark Kunach has taken up the position of Chairman. This is very welcome news as the position has been vacant since Peter Tregear moved on some time ago. Mark has some wonderful ideas about raising the profile of GBS and we look forward to the implementation of these with great excitement.

The very bubbly Glenda Ford has accepted the role of Secretary so will now be responsible for meeting co-ordination / liaison. This has come about as our 'GBS Heroine' Mary McAlister is opting to ease up on her GBS duties after many, many, many years of dedication. In saying this, she still has the biggest workload of all of us in managing letters, correspondence, emails, banking and taking calls from those with GBS/CIDP enquiries. To be honest I could devote an entire Newsletter to Mary‟s virtue‟s and would if I thought she would let me!!

Thanks also to Tony Royle who has also supported the Committee for a very long time in the role of Treasurer. Tony has added great experience and provided many words of wisdom during his reign and we wish him well with his very busy family life in the future.

Our current Committee members. And now, without further ado, a message from our new leader.... over to you Mark.
